Fonebank Recycling Ltd has been recycling mobile phones and tablets for nine years. New Zealand owned, we’re part of the international Fonebank brand. Our approach and systems are powered by CMR/TD SYNNEX, a well established US$60 billion turnover conglomerate.

CMR (initiators of the Fonebank brand and business in 2003) and Fonebank Recycling form the sharp end of our personal and enterprise mobile device recycling business in Europe and New Zealand.

CMR was founded in 2003 and acquired by Tech Data in 2016. Tech Data merged with Synnex in 2021 to create TD SYNNEX. CMR have long term partnerships with corporate partners, charities and government and public bodies including the Metropolitan Police (UK). CMR powers the ‘TD SYNNEX RENEW’ trade-in portal and service, operating in 16 countries. CMR is an Apple approved trade-in partner.

Our objective is first to recycle for product life extension, secondly to ensure that end of life devices are recycled for parts reuse or environmentally compliant disposal. A key part of this is ensuring that all data is erased to customer satisfaction.

The Earth’s resources are finite. Extending product life, promoting ethical recycling, repurposing components and generally supporting investment in the Circular Economy are Fonebank priorities.
